Frequently Asked Questions
How does the whole web development process work?
First of all, we talk you through every step of the process so you’re never alone. The whole thing begins with a meeting where we learn about your business, your vision, goals, needs, and budget. We usually spend a lot of time in this initial meeting. We want to get to know your industry and then we start tossing around ideas, a lot like a business consultation. Our clients say this first meeting is invaluable for them.
There are many phases to creating a website, and it can take time. But like we said, we walk you through each step and make you part of it. By the end, you’ll feel like the expert.
How long has UX Web Technologies been building websites?
Yosef Juarez, Founder and CEO, started building websites over six years ago. Today, we’re a growing team of designers, developers, project managers, marketers, writers, and technology geeks. You can learn more on our About Us page.
Do we need to meet face to face?
We actually prefer to meet our clients, but it’s not necessary. We have clients all over the US who we’ve never met. We communicate via email, Slack, Skype, and old fashioned phone calls. We often have initial consultations over the phone or Skype. The goal is to get as much information as we can about your company/brand, to create the best website possible. Whichever communication channels work best, we’ll use.
How long does it take to build a website?
Depending on the type of website you want, from a one-pager informational site to a multi-store front, multiple languages, eCommerce site, it can take from two weeks to six months or even more. Usually, if takes longer, it’s due to delays that could often be avoided, like delays in client’s deliverables: content, images, decisions, etc.; sudden priority shifts or client contact person being unavailable; scope changes when client suddenly sees new potential or changes the goals or target audience of the site. Sticking to the scope and milestones set during the planning stage, and leaving the changes for after the website launches, during a Stage Two design, will greatly reduce the likelihood of delays.
What do you need from me to get started?
Although UX Web Technologies is an end-to-end, full-service agency, many clients already have the logo, content, graphics, and images for their website. In this case we would require all those plus all credentials for an existing site.
It’s important to know that professionally written web copy and professional images greatly increase your website’s effectiveness and budget permitting, it’s worthwhile to invest in the best content possible
How much will my website cost?
There are so many styles and types of websites that until we sit with you to hear what you’re looking for and then scope out all the details, we can’t say. After our initial meeting and research, we then provide clients with a detailed proposal, including price.
We always try to work with our clients’ budgets, as long as they’re realistic. We know you’ve probably heard stories about websites that went completely out of scope and cost the client way more than they expected. We try to take all the stress out of website design and development by spending plenty of time at the research stage to price it correctly.
What platform do you build your websites on?
Like so many other variables in web development, that depends. We love to build custom and can do so from start to finish. But there’s no reason not to use the open-source Content Management System (CMS) platform called WordPress, if possible. They offer thousands of themes for every industry and we’re experts in finding the best ones for our clients. We also have worked with hundreds of WordPress extensions and plugins and know how to advise our clients. For eCommerce sites we use WooCommerce from WordPress, and Magento.
Do I own my website?
Yes, your website belongs to you. Most clients contract us to maintain their website on an ongoing basis, so we could be partners for years. But if for any reason you need to transfer your site to another hosting service, we’re happy to assist you in making a smooth transition.
Will the website be easy to view on mobile devices?
Absolutely. We only create responsive websites, which means easy to view on all devices including mobile, tablet, phablet, and PC/ Mac.
Will my website be Search Engine Friendly?
Yes. As experienced web designers and developers, we make a point to prepare a website to be search engine friendly, which ensures that users will be able to access your site.
Can you help me source photos for my website?
Sure. There are plenty of online sources for free images and videos, but better images are from shutterstock.com or istock.com. Don’t rule out professional shots. Those really make your website zing.
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a service that Google offers to track and report your website’s traffic. The data is used for many things, including digital marketing and advertising plans to increase your online traffic. Google Analytics is the most widely used web analytics on the Internet and we include it on all of our websites so you can get accurate reports about your website’s traffic.
What is web hosting?
Essentially, web hosting is where your website lives. It’s a service that not only enables anyone to post a website or web page on the internet, but delivers the pages to any user who types your website address, or URL, into their browser. Websites are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers. When someone “searches” for your website, their computer will connect to your server and your web pages will be delivered to them through the browser.
Most hosting companies require that you own your domain name in order to host you. If you don’t have a domain name, the hosting companies will help you get one.
